It all started for me back in about january1996 when I was at university, a friend of mine had a set of decks and after a night out asked if I wanted a go. I found it addictive and just wanted to learn more! He sold me his decks about 6 months later and that's when I really started to get into it.
Having heard some of my friends go on about funky house I bought a miss Monneypennies album called funky house mixed by Jim Shaft Ryan and loved it, that's when I started getting hooked into house music.
House music is happy music, music that puts smiles on peoples and that's something that I always appreciate when I'm dj'ing, is people dancing with a big smile on their face!
So where have I dj'ed it all started in Bolton at the students union bar. Then I got my break in Manchester from a friend Rick cee who asked me to dj with him in the Slug & Lettuce on Canal street that was back in , Rick introduced me to some of his friends Adam Guy Stef Xiros who liked what I was playing and asked me to do warm up at The Bar Café on Thursday nights, which lead on to a residency on Saturday nights there.
I've also dj'ed in Les Arcs in the French Alps and done 2 spots in Maui Hawaii.
The bar café was the turning point in my dj career. It opened up so many doors and introduced me to so many other dj's promoters etc. One of them being Tim Owen who was dj'ing at the bar café at the time with NS City. NS City moved on to ampersand and started Plush.
Tim asked me come and play for them and it wasn't long before I became a Plush resident.
I have a lot to thank Tim for, Tim put my name on the Manchester scene and through Plush I've been fortunate enough to warm up for some of the biggest names in the industry Seamus Haji, Soul Avengerz, Alistair Whitehead, Jon Fitz to name a few. Plush gave me the opportunity to play on Galaxy 102 and in the very near future to play in Ibiza. Everything a bedroom dj aspires to do and be, Plush has made it possible for me.
House music has done so much for me in my life it introduced me to some of my closest friends and girlfriend. It gave weekends a purpose and also made slogging your guts out all week worthwhile.
Thanks to Pug Cowles for introducing me to dj'ing
Thanks to Rick Cee for all his support and friendship over the years and giving me my first Manchester gig
Thanks to Adam Guy/Stef Xiros and Marcus the Manager of The Bar Cafe
Thanks to all the people that have supported my dj career & me
But most of all, thanks to Tim Owen for the recognition and belief in what I do. Big thanks too to Mark Lathem who share's Tim's opinion and vision. Thanks to all those that support Plush and work behind the scenes. They are all friends and all contribute to Plush being my way of life and such a big part of my life. Plush put me where I am today and hopefully with the team I will go a lot further!
